Our Story

Mike & Lisa met and fell in love on Facebook on August 6, 2012, and through daily and almost constant texts and phone calls. Hundreds if not thousands of photographs were shared to keep connected and on September 27, 2012, Lisa traveled via Greyhound bus to meet Mike in person. They began unofficially trying to make a baby together on that day. At the end of the week, Lisa left Mike in his home town of Tallahassee Florida and traveled back to her home town of Cordova Alabama. 320 miles separated them but they were connected at the heart.

A "false" pregnancy made them realize how much they truly wanted a baby together. On November 5, 2012, Lisa packed a carry on bag, leaving everything and everyone behind, (including her teenage daughter who chose to stay with her birth father, and her sweet little dog and best friend who she had to leave behind), it was bittersweet.

She moved in with Mike and his parents, settled into living in Florida and quickly realized what true love was. The couple continued on their quest to have a baby and hit many bumps along the way with serious infections, trips to the ER, and weeks of treatment for the infections. After many failed attempts and negative pregnancy tests, it seemed all was lost until Lisa realized she was pregnant during the month of May 2013. Cautiously excited she decided to wait and surprise Mike for Father's Day. Sadly she miscarried early the very week of.

The couple focused on their strong love, upcoming marriage, and return of Lisa's teenage daughter. They married 1 year from the day they met in a small ceremony at the Clerk's Office.

Shortly after, they took a family vacation and Lisa began to notice changes in her body, but having had her body lie so many times before she ignored them. On October 2, 2013, 1 year to the date of their first date, Mike insisted they test again and low and behold it was positive. The 2nd test was also positive and Mike, consumed by excitement, decided to announce to everyone what Lisa was hoping to keep secret, have had 3 previous miscarriages before the 2nd trimester.

On October 4th she tested again and now had 5 positive tests to prove she was pregnant. On October 13th Lisa realized her symptoms were leaving and it concerned her enough to go to the ER and get 2 ultra sounds. 1 external and 1 internal. Both ultra sounds showed that she was in fact pregnant. Lisa began suffering pains after the internal ultra sound, then discharge, followed by bleeding. On October 18, 2013, at the very first prenatal appointment, there was no heart beat found.

This blog was started to separate the grief of miscarriage from the joy of being in love and in a way combine the two. It is Lisa's quest to become healthy and happy enough to begin trying once again sometime around January 2014....always hoping and praying for another chance and another rainbow baby..
